The all new Mazda2. Packed with more punch than ever before, it’s been fun driving this little gem around.
With all the vehicles I’ve been fortunate to experience so far, in the hatch back and small size categories – the 2014 Mazda2 is more than what I expected. It has a purse-friendly price tag, chic looks and substance.
Let’s start with the exterior. Its ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ design is appealing with a soft and minimally elegant touch and just the right amount of sports-appeal.
Stepping inside, the design is sleek and minimal with a focus on the driving experience without leaving out the little (but important) details like hooking up your smartphone and accessing your tunes right away (something I’m big on).
Performance wise, its 1.5 litre petrol engine and sport mode means it’s zippy (which I like) – perfect for city driving but also comfortable for coastal cruising. Its Skyactiv Technology means it’s lightweight and efficient. The ride is smooth with automatic and manual options.
Looks and performance aside, this little beauty rates high on safety, with world-class collision protection like that of a rigid body, along with many more features – so you can feel safe despite its size.
Overall, the Mazda2 is a great small car for the price. You’re getting a more than you’ve bargained for with its good looks, smooth driving experience and abundance of features. Not to mention its advanced sense of safety and great efficiency. Highly recommended for the discerning small car buyer who wants style and substance without the snobby price tag.
