Westfield: Own Your Story – Leather Love

I’ve been blessed to be a part of some amazing campaigns lately, and one that I’m especially thrilled about is being a part of Westfield‘s autumn fashion campaign, Own Your Story. This campaign really speaks to me as it’s all about embracing the amazing person you are and expressing your own unique style through fashion. And throughout the season, I’ll be doing just that – through a personally curated collection of autumn/winter trends from some of my favourite brands and retailers from my go-to shopping destination, Westfield.

For me, fashion extends beyond the visual plane and was embedded in my psyche from a young age. I was born to be creative and although my childhood consisted of an eccentric mix of tomboy activities, art and ballet, at the tender age of nine I knew I wanted to be a fashion designer. Ever since I’ve chased that dream, and though my journey hasn’t ended yet, I’ve discovered new pathways and roles along the way that I’ve fallen completely in love with and embracing every minute of. Who knows – I may revisit that dream in the near future, but for now – and five years on – it’s fashion blogging.

The road has been long, winding and full of mountains and roadblocks – but all only to make me who I am today. I’ve learned a lot, worked a lot, but loved it a lot. I’m also still learning a lot, working hard and more than ever, and loving everything about it. For anyone considering a career path in blogging, influencing or something similar – if you want it bad enough, you’ll get it. You’ve just gotta be focused, creative, determined and be prepared to work extra hard. This stuff ain’t easy! One really important thing for me too – is to be true to your own unique style and be different. Be you. Own yourself, own your style – and #ownyourstory.

Which brings me to this look. This is one of the four key trends that I’ll be sharing with you, and one style that you’ve probably seen me wearing since like, forever. It’s leather – that fierce, sexy yet sophisticated leather look. One of my all-time favourite trends that really transcends seasons, is the double leather or all-leather look. Biker jackets and boots are my jam, I think I need a separate room to store just these two styles of clothing. Here I’ve opted for a classic, well-designed black leather biker over a basic black rib top, tucked into some sexy high-waisted pants in olive and rocked some super thigh highs to add some drama and sass. The olive pants breaks and blocks the black nicely, with its corset style waist really cinches and defines the silhouette. The leather of the biker is like butter; the detailing is tough and the fit is perfect. The top acts as a canvas so as not to deter from the statement pieces, the main being the thigh high boots.

I love this look for just about anything social, and even for work – depending on your workplace, of course. It’ll take you from day to night, and perfect for the fluctuating autumn temperatures here in Melbourne. The jacket will keep you warm, then slide it off and you’ll be just fine if it’s warmer than expected. All these pieces are available at westfield.com.au – which is super convenient because you can shop it in the comfort of your own home. Well you can shop just about anything really, which is why I love it! If you find something you love, show it off and join the conversation using the hashtag #ownyourstory.

Hope you enjoy what I pulled together for this first look – stay tuned for more!
